June, 2015- Vines recover from Spring frost (secondary buds show fruit)

A series of freezing temps occurred during the night this spring which in turn froze out our primary fruiting buds. Now after a month new leaves and fruit have come forth from the secondary bud. Looking good but unfortunately we will probably get a third of the fruit we would normally get.

May 17-18, 2015 Frost Damage

The beginning of this saw almost 2 inches of rain but unfortunately we saw night time temps dip below 32 degrees which unfortunately damaged the vines. May 11-12, 2015 Rain and Cold

May 1st- bud break

First day of May saw the buds popping open. Fingers crossed that we don’t get any frost!      

Mar 15-21 2015, Pruning continues and the removal of grow tubes

March is seeing record high temps with highs in the 70s. Makes for nice pruning weather! As bud break is supposed to be light induced and not temperature induced in wild grapes as opposed to commercial varieties I’m not too worried about this weather having adverse effects on the vines. This winter the Voles(field mice) where kind to us….

March 5, 2015- beginning to prune vines in Vineyard 1

Started to begin pruning vines on Vineyard 1. Beginning by untangling cutting shoots from each other and other plants as well as cutting off any dead wood. Temptatures have started to rise into 20s and today into the 30s so it should make for good pruning weather.

Feb 19, 2015- sub zero temps and a little snow

The last few weeks have brought about three inches of snow cover replacing what little was there. Last night saw the temperature at -20 below zero for a few hours and the night previous to that -14 below. Cold but nothing like last year although the snow cover last year was much greater. Jan 17, 2015 – Winter in Vineyards 1,2, and 3
