Good afternoon. My husband and I own a “hobby” vineyard in upstate NY. I was searching the internet on ways to keep the deer out of the vineyard and came across your website. I read your archives on the deer and found we struggle with the same issues. Our vineyard is surrounded by woods. I was tempted to do the fishing line and the tape, was that successful? It looks like you may have just installed an electric fence? Any suggestions would help, we are in our 5th year and have had hardly any growth. Thank you

The electric fence is actually really simple and really effective. We have 2 wires that surround vineyard. The key is to get some electrical tape and wrap it put it on the wire so that it makes a kind of tag. Then we put fresh peanut butter on that. This attracts the deer to the peanut butter and when they try to taste it gives them a shock on the nose. They stay clear from the vineyard then on. It basically trains them to stay away from vineyard.
