Using Old CD’s As Deer And Bird Repellent

One of the challenges we face with our new vineyard is keeping deer from eating our vines, since we do not have a fence around vineyard #2 as we do with vineyard #1. In a previous post I referenced that we were using fish line as a deterrent which so far has worked. One thing we wanted to try as well is using old CDs around the vineyard to spook any deer from getting to curious about our vines. What I ended up doing was using a lead line and swivel that you would normally use for fishing and drilling a hole in the cd and connecting the lead line to the cd and the top part of the trellis (see pics below) which allows the cd to spin around in the wind and reflect light erratically which can spook deer and birds.
